Itinerary
Day 1: Seattle
The Evergreen State welcomes you as the group arrives in Seattle. Please arrive before 1:00 PST. Meet your Western Leisure Tour Director at Seattle Airport, climb aboard the motorcoach and travel to downtown Seattle. You will visit the Seattle Center, sight of the 1962 World's Fair, for an experience high above Seattle in the world-famous Space Needle. There will also be time to wander through the Chihuly Garden and Glass. World famous Northwest glass artist, Dale Chihuly, presents a comprehensive collection of his work in an Exhibition Hall, a Garden installation and a Glasshouse. Then we head to our hotel for the night and a welcome dinner.
Day 2: Olympic National Park (B)
Leave Tacoma and journey to the spectacular Olympic Peninsula! Known for its diverse ecosystems, the area is a place to spark your senses. Your first stop travels to an area surrounded by natural beauty and full of small-town charm, Sequim. Known as one of the driest places in western Washington, it is home to lavender lovers. Visit a local lavender farm where can wander among 40 varieties of lavender, and you can even cut your own bundle. Then travel to Olympic National Park starting with the visitor’s center in Port Angeles. Next take the scenic drive-up Hurricane Ridgelocated at the northern edge of the park. After this scenic experience, arrive at your hotel in Port Angeles for overnight. Enjoy your evening on own.
Day 3: Victoria, BC (B)
This morning travel by ferry to Vancouver Island and British Columbia’s Capitol City of Victoria. We’ll visit Butchart Gardens, a National Historic Site of Canada. explore its more than 35 acres of beautiful and exotic plants. Enjoy the sunken garden, scenically placed in an abandoned rock quarry; you'll also see gardens laid out in the Japanese, Italian, and European styles. This afternoon, you are free to explore Victoria on your own, discovering the delightful shops, charming Tudor-style buildings, and many wonderful restaurants here in this jewel of British Columbia. Your tour director can give you tips on how to best spend your free afternoon - so enjoy! This evening, board a ferry for a crossing of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, returning to the U.S and the town of Port Angeles for overnight.
Day 4: Hoh Rain Forest - Ocean Shores (B)
This morning enjoy a scenic drive through Olympic National Park as you depart Port Angeles and drive to Lake Crescent Lodge for a quick stop. Then travel through the small town of Forks, made famous in the Twilight Series. Arrive at the Hoh Rain Forest, for an easy hike on the Hall Of Mosses Trail. Here the trees may be more than 1,000 years old, and every surface of the tree, living or dead, is covered with plant life. Throughout the winter, rain falls frequently in the forest contributing to the yearly average of 140 inches of precipitation. Mosses and ferns blanket the surfaces adding a fairy-like quality to this destination. Now onto the wild Olympic Coast and Kalaloch Beach, which means "good place to land." It is one of the most visited areas of Olympic National Park and a safe haven for thousands of sea creatures. Enjoy lunch at Kalaloch Lodge with a wonderful view of the coastline. After soaking up the crisp ocean air and viewing the tide pools, travel to Lake Quinault Lodge for a stop to enjoy the breathtaking views, stretch your legs and maybe visit the gift shop. Now we continue to Ocean Shores where we will check into our hotel and have the evening to relax on own.
Day 5: Astoria - Seaside (B, D)
We encourage you to approach Oregon the way Oregonians do, with a sense of humor and adventure. Arrive in Astoriawith a stop for lunch on own and an amazing view from The Astoria Column. In the afternoon we’ll stop for a tour of Fort Clatsop National Historic Park. This is the site where the 33 member Lewis and Clark Expedition wintered from December 7, 1805, until March 23, 1806. The facility includes the reconstructed fort, a visitor center/museum, historical exhibits, canoe landing, spring and trails through the rainforest of young Sitka spruce and western hemlock. Continue down Hwy 101 with spectacular views of the Oregon Coast on the way to Seaside, Oregon’s first resort town, for overnight. Check into your oceanfront hotel with the evening free to wander on the beach and have dinner on own.
Day 6: Seaside - Newport (B, D)
Continue down the spectacular Oregon Coast this morning and stop in Tillamook, Oregon's leading dairy producing region and home of the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Learn all about the history of the cheese plant watch cheese being made and pick up a tasty souvenir. Then depart Tillamook and arrive in Lincoln City for lunch on your own. After lunch, enjoy a short tour of this historic city then continue south along the rugged Oregon Coast. Arrive in Newport for touring of the Oregon Coast Aquarium. The Aquarium is a living classroom for all learning styles and ages. As one of Oregon's top tourist attractions, the Aquarium is a vital educational resource for the state, with over 40,000 students visiting the aquarium each year. The Aquarium strives to be a center of excellence for ocean literacy and plays an active role in conservation and animal rehabilitation efforts. After a full day of adventure, check into your Newport hotel. Tonight, we will have a farewell dinner.
Day 7: Departure for home (B)
This morning departs for Portland Airport for your flights home. Please make flights after 1 pm PST.
Please Note - * This tour requires average physical activity. Participants should be in good health, able to climb stairs, and walk reasonable distances, possibly over uneven ground or unpaved trails. This tour has early mornings that can be chilly. Come prepared for cold mornings and nights. Must have passports.
