Day 1: ARRIVE DENVER OR CHEYENNE
Arrive in Denver or Cheyenne this afternoon. Upon arrival, our first stop will be for some western wear at the Old West Corral. Join the group this evening for a get acquainted banquet. Overnight Cheyenne.
Day 2: BUFFALO
Depart Cheyenne this morning. We are heading to "Jackalope" country. We'll stop in Douglas, Wyoming and hear all about how this community rallies around the "Jackalope". Then we are off for lunch in Wyoming's 2nd largest city, Casper. First stop is the Nat'l Historic Trails Interpretive Center, where we'll relive the days of yesteryear. Then we'll hit the trail north to Buffalo, Wyoming. We'll tour the Jim Gatchell Museum, which originally opened as a drugstore. Today it houses one of the most historically significant collections of American Indian artifacts, along with memorabilia from the Bozeman Trail and the Johnson County Cattle War of 1892. Tonight, join us for dinner at the historic Occidental Hotel.
DAY 3: BATTLEFIELDS
First stop today was the bloodiest in history of any fort in the West, Fort Phil Kearney. Then, we're off to tour Little Big Horn Battlefield. We'll meet our local expert and spend they day learning all about the battlefield. After all this death and destruction, we're off to Red Lodge, Montana for a relaxing sleep in the mountains. This historic turn-of-the-century town, remains vital and is a showcase of historic preservation.
DAY 4: TOP OF THE WORLD/YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK
Hold on to your hats as we take one of the most scenic drives in the world over the Beartooth Highway to the "Top of the World." This is Montana's high country and travelling on the Beartooth Highway will be an experience you will never forget. We are travelling the northeast entrance into Yellowstone National Park. Watch out for wolves who were reintroduced into this section of the park. We'll spend the day touring America's first national Park, Yellowstone. Overnight just outside of the park in West Yellowstone, Montana.
DAY 5: JACKSON HOLE
After going over Targhee Pass, we'll enter the Island Park Region. This area is world-famous for its outstanding trout fishing on the Madison and Henry rivers. Our next stop is Yellowstone Bear World where you'll be taken back in time to an era when the black and grizzly bears wandered along roadsides of Yellowstone Park. Next, we saddle up and travel over Teton Pass into Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Spend the afternoon and evening getting to know this wild and wooly town.
DAY 6: GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK
The Grand Tetons in northwestern Wyoming is our destination this morning. We'll stop for pictures of these magnificent mountains before we head out of the park into the charming community of Dubois. We'll enjoy lunch here before touring the Nat'l Bighorn Sheep Interpretive Center. Then we'll continue on our trail to Thermopolis, Wyoming where the world's largest mineral hot spring exists. We'll start with a trip through the famous bar the "Safari Lounge" at the Holiday Inn where we'll learn all about "wildlife", before we get a chance to soak our bones and enjoy the Mineral Hot Springs.
DAY 7: LARAMIE
Our first stop is the town of Riverton which is located along the Big Wind River. We'll then continue south on our trail to Rawlins in time for lunch. We'll continue to Laramie on the Snowy Range Scenic Byway. Upon arrival in Laramie, we'll take a guided tour of the restored 1870's Territorial Prison where Butch Cassidy did time. End the day at the unique Horse Barn Theatre featuring an authentic western musical revue.
DAY 8: HOME
After a hearty breakfast, we'll depart for our hour ride back to Cheyenne. Then we are off to Denver International Airport. What a great ride we've had here in Wild West Wyoming.
