SPRINGTIME IN OREGON
This suggested itinerary can be customized for Your Group!
Day 1: ARRIVE PORTLAND
Arrive Portland, the "City of Roses" and meet your Western Leisure Guide and then enjoy a short city tour. After our tour we will check into our downtown hotel before joining the group for a welcome dinner.
Day 2: COLUMBIA RIVER - MT. HOOD
Today you will explore the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, visit the Cascade Locks and then the Columbia River Gorge Interpretive Center for a look into the history and power of the Columbia. Then turn south to the Hood River Valley. We will stop for lunch on own then board the Mt. Hood Railroad in Parksdale for a scenic ride back to the Columbia River. On you way back to Portland stop at Multnomah Falls and Crown Point; after a full day of touring, enjoy a free evening in Portland.
DAY 3: MT. HELENS - ASTORIA
This morning travel north into Washington State for sightseeing of Mt. St. Helens Nation Volcanic Monument. Then, return south to Oregon and follow the banks of the mighty Columbia River to Astoria and visit the Astoria Column where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. We will then visit the Columbia River Maritime Museum which interprets the Pacific Northwest’s rich maritime history. In the late afternoon, arrive in the Pacific Northwest's largest beach resort community of Seaside, check in for a two night stay.
DAY 4: FORT CLATSOP - SEASIDE
Start the day with touring of Fort Clatsop National Memorial Park, where Lewis and Clark wintered in the years of 1805 and 1806. We'll stop at the historic Salt Cairn, then return to Seaside with the rest of the day free to enjoy the beach and a two-mile promenade of shops, restaurants, etc.
DAY 5: OREGON COAST - OREGON SAND DUNES
The Oregon Coast is famous as one of North America's top ten most scenic drives. Our first stop will be at the Tillamook Cheese Factory for touring. Then arrive in Newport and visit the Oregon Coast Aquarium followed by free time for lunch on own. We'll continue along the coast with a stop at Cape Perpetua where sea lions and Gray Whales are often spotted. Continue on to the National Dunes Recreation Area, where you will enjoy a special Dune Buggy Ride. All too soon, you'll arrive in Coos Bay, to tour the House of Myrtlewood. Tour the facility and do a little souvenir hunting before checking into your hotel in Coos Bay.
DAY 6: ROGUE RIVER - REDWOODS - SHAKESPEARE
This morning continue south with anticipation of a jet boat ride on the Rogue River. Then depart and enter California with a stop in Crescent City. This afternoon visit Redwood National Park. Return to Oregon as you travel to Medford and check in for a one night stay. After some time to freshen up, head to nearby Ashland for dinner and an evening of entertainment at the award winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival; return to hotel.
DAY 7: WINE & FRUIT - CRATER LAKE
Southern Oregon has a long agricultural history and is home to many vineyards and fruit orchards. Visit at least one of each with an opportunity to pick up local treats and gifts. We will then drive alongside the beautiful Rogue River on your way to Crater Lake National Park. Enjoy touring of this natural wonder. This afternoon, depart and drive over Willamette Pass on the way to Eugene for a one night stay.
DAY 8: EUGENE - PORTLAND
This morning stop in at the Nike Store where the museum tells the story of Nike and offers some great shopping opportunities. Then depart Portland and travel north to Salem and the Mission Mill Museum. Continue north to St. Paul and French Prairie Gardens for a lunch made from the local harvest. As your tour of Oregon is coming to an end, a visit to the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center seems appropriate. Then, arrive Portland and your hotel; tonight join the group for a fun farewell dinner.
DAY 9: HOME
Morning transfers to the airport have been arranged.
