Day 1: ARRIVE DENVER
The "Rockies" welcome you today. Your tour director will meet you at the Denver airport where you'll depart for a tour of this "hip" city. Explore this eastern gateway to the Rockies. This afternoon, check into your downtown hotel - but don't wander too far because tonight you will rejoin your fellow passengers for a get-acquainted banquet.
Day 2: DENVER / CUSTER
Today, journey northward toward Cheyenne, Wyoming to historic Fort Laramie, where you will have the opportunity to see for yourself a monument to a time gone by. After a chance to explore, it's back in the saddle again! You're on your way to the famous Black Hills of South Dakota. Travel through scenic Custer State Park on your way into Rapid City for overnight.
DAY 3: CRAZY HORSE/MOUNT RUSHMORE
Today you'll tour the famous Black Hills of South Dakota. You are on your way to Mount Rushmore, stopping first at the site of the Crazy Horse carving. You will arrive at Mt. Rushmore where you will have plenty of time to walk around, photograph, and explore the monument. Next, as you travel into Rapid City, you will stop at the Black Hills Gold Factory. Overnight back in Rapid City, SD.
DAY 4: RAPID CITY/BUFFALO
Say "howdy" to the wild and woolly mining towns of Lead and Deadwood today as you travel westward once again. Continue your travels to the nation's very first National Monument, Devil's Tower. After lunch, the vast prairielands of Wyoming open before you as you make your way to Buffalo, Wyoming. Buffalo is one of those wonderful small towns that seem to define rural America.
DAY 5: YELLOWSTONE
This morning as you leave Buffalo, you will travel through the Powder River Pass and Ten Sleep Canyon on your way to Cody. Cody is now the home of the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. Later this morning, you'll enter the world's first national park, Yellowstone. You'll spend the day in the park before exiting at the West entrance to overnight in West Yellowstone.
DAY 6: YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK
This will be your day to explore Yellowstone. You'll tour the park's most famous sights today before heading back to West Yellowstone for overnight.
DAY 7: JACKSON
Bid farewell to Yellowstone this morning, and enter Grand Teton National Park for views of unparalleled scenic beauty. Stop for picture postcard photos of lovely Jenny Lake, then continue on to the old west town of Jackson Hole. You'll arrive for a relaxing afternoon and evening to explore Jackson Hole.
DAY 8: JACKSON/SALT LAKE CITY
You will travel in three states today: Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah, on your way back to Salt Lake City. You'll make a stop at the picturesque Bear Lake, before arriving in Salt Lake City in the late afternoon.
DAY 9: MORMON TABERNACLE CHOIR/MOAB
This morning you'll enjoy the "heavenly singing" of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Leave Salt Lake City and travel south descending through Price Canyon you will arrive in the city of Price. Our first stop is the College of Eastern Utah Prehistoric Museum. We then drive south past the fascinating Book Cliffs and the central Utah butte country before arriving at Arches National Park, which has the largest assemblage of natural stone arches in the world. You will continue to Moab for your overnight accommodations.
DAY 10: MOAB/BRYCE
Today you will awaken with the anticipation of seeing some of Utah's most spectacular scenery. Leave Moab and drive through the town of Green River, skirt the San Rafael Reef, and arrive at Capitol Reef National Park, the most colorful of all the West's parks. After exploring Capitol Reef, you will drive over the Boulder Mountain Highway, often considered Utah's most scenic drive. Next, you will have the chance to see America's newest and most controversial National Monument: Grand Staircase Escalante Canyons. This evening you arrive at Bryce Canyon National Park just in time to view sunset, before checking into your accommodations for the night.
DAY 11: BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK/ZION NATIONAL PARK
The hues and intricate shapes of Bryce Canyon carry even the most mature adult away into a fairyland fantasy. One thing is certain, you'll love Bryce Canyon. The fun doesn't stop here; you're off to see Utah's oldest and most famous national park, Zion. Overnight just outside of the park.
DAY 12: ZION NATIONAL PARK/LAS VEGAS
Today, drive south, descending 2,000 feet through the magnificent Virgin River gorge into Arizona, and then through a short stretch of Nevada desert to the "Entertainment Capitol of the World," Las Vegas. We'll arrive at our hotel early afternoon to enjoy this incredible city.
