Itinerary

Day 1: ARRIVE VANCOUVER

Arrive in Canada and the city of Vancouver today. After a brief check-in with your tour director, we'll depart for a tour of this cosmopolitan city. Then we'll transfer to your overnight accommodations downtown.

Day 2: ROCKY MOUNTAINEER

Today you will travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Kamloops in the interior of British Columbia. En route you will pass through the fertile Fraser Valley and the scenic Fraser Canyon. One of the canyon's true highlights is Hell's Gate, where you will watch water torrent past the canyon's walls at its narrowest point. Upon leaving the Fraser Canyon, the train will follow the Thompson River to the city of Kamloops for your overnight stay.

DAY 3: ROCKY MOUNTAINEER

Back onboard the Rocky Mountaineer you will follow the Thompson River through rolling plateaus into the snowy peaks of the Monashee and Caribou Mountains. Pass by Mt. Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3954 meters (12,972 ft), before entering Jasper National Park. Arrive in Jasper late afternoon, and check into your hotel.

DAY 4: ICEFIELDS PARKWAY/SNOWCOACH RIDE/LAKE LOUISE

Here in the Canadian Rockies lies the greatest mass of ice outside the Arctic Circle, and for this reason, we have scheduled our next stop: Climb aboard a specially-constructed glacier vehicle that will carry you over the surface of the mighty icefields. You will see crevasses and seracs, and you will learn that glaciers are moving rivers of ice, thousands of years old. After this incredible journey, continue on to Banff for a 2 night stay.

DAY 5: LAKE LOUISE/VALLEY OF THE TEN PEAKS

We continue our sightseeing this morning with a short drive to Moraine Lake in the Valley of the Ten Peaks. Then visit Lake Louise for lunch in the Chateau Lake Louise dining room, offering a spectacular view of the lake and Victoria Glacier. After lunch, travel to Banff for short sightseeing and a thrilling ride on Banff's Sulpher Mountain Gondola. Return to your hotel with the remainder of the afternoon and evening free to explore on your own.

DAY 6: CALGARY

Today's destination is Calgary - home of the 1988 Winter Olympics and the world famous Calgary Stampede. After a leisurely morning, travel to Calgary and the Stampede Grounds. There will be free time to explore the many exhibits, attractions and activities. Tonight join your fellow passengers at the Calgary Stampede Rodeo which features amazing demonstrations of cowboy skill as contestants ride and rope their way to a share of the over $500,000 prize money.

DAY 7: HOME

Morning transfers to the airport have been arranged.
